After inspiring you with our Area Guides of both Bristol and Bath, we’re back with a more in depth guide to a specific, popular location within Bristol – Southville. A vibrant corner of South Bristol, Southville is known for its colourful street art, bustling pubs and independent shops.

In this article, we are going to explore Southville, delving into its interesting history and vibrant culture so that you are well-prepped for your next visit and know exactly what to do and where to go!

So, where exactly is Southville?

Located in the south of Bristol, past the floating harbour, Southville is set along the River Avon, between Ashton and Bedminster. There’s actually some debate as to where Southville ends and Bedminster begins – they’re very intertwined – but hopefully this gives you some idea of where to find Southville.

Within walking distance of the city centre via the harbourside, Southville is home to the bustling community of North Street – a hub of boutiques, pubs, galleries and restaurants – and offers its residents beautiful views of the river. Close by is the suburb of Bedminster which also offers many bars and restaurants.

As well as this, for one weekend in February, the residential streets surrounding North Street participate in Window Wanderland, decorating their windows for a walking trail that illuminates the entire area!
