Aspire To Move in the Community: August 2020 to December 2020

Aspire To Move in the local community

When Aspire To Move was founded in December 2019, one of the first things we wanted to do was help our local community. So we set out a plan to help out as much as we can in 2020.

In the first half of 2020 we held photography competitions, helped people during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as a bit of Easter community fun for the children. We loved it all so much we just had to continue it throughout the rest of 2020.

So here is what we got up to in the second half of 2020 . . .

Pumpkin carving competition

Who doesn’t love a pumpkin carving competition? With Halloween not being quite the same this year we wanted to still have some fun. We decided to hold a pumpkin carving competition and invited local kids and parents to enter. The winner would receive a stash of Halloween goodies.

We had loads of entries but the winner this year was the Adams family with an amazing carving entry by their 3 children.

Sponsored Bathesaston fireworks

To help bring a little joy to the local community we sponsored the Batheaston Fireworks at your Fence – 2020 Display. Even though all large gatherings were cancelled the 23rd Bath Scout Group wanted to create the biggest fireworks display the village has ever seen.

Through this they managed to raise over £5,500. It was an amazing display and we know lots of people would have enjoyed it.

Donating a hamper to the local school for a raffle

Our final act of 2020 was to help a local school, St Saviour’s Schools in Bath, raise money through a Christmas raffle. We decided to donate a huge hamper of amazing goodies to help raise money. The raffle raised over £800 as well as Lloyds Bank matching part of the fundraising with a £500 donation.

We know 2020 has been a very hard year and we just hope our small bit has helped those in the local community. And don’t worry, our community work won’t stop here, we have big plans for 2021 and beyond.
