Aspire in the local Community

Being involved with the community is very important to us.

Here at Aspire To Move we feel that it is very important to be involved with the local community and support local businesses, events and charities.

We strive to be involved within the local community so if you have a local event or charity please pick up the phone as we would love to be involved!

Aspire to Move spread Christmas Cheer in the community

The team were delighted to nominate Food Cycle for our charity to support in December.

We love this charity as it brings people together with food and conversation and everyone is welcome.  They use food which would otherwise go to waste and open up to assist with poverty, loneliness and food waste.

We could not be prouder to have donated as a business to this local charity.

500 Mile Cycle for RUH

As a team, we actively seek to be part of the community and assist charities where we can each year.

June saw the whole Aspire team down tools for the day and take on the challenge of cycling from Bath to Ben Nevis a total of 500 miles.

We decided as a team to raise money for the RUH Hospital as appreciate all they do and assist so many in our amazing city.  We were delighted to raise a total of £2515 for this worthy cause.  The team found the challenge hard, we had saddle sore but pushed on with a smile on our faces throughout.

Thank you to everyone who supported us and popped in to cheer us on.

Charity Giveaway and Pony Adoption

As a team, we actively seek to be part of the community and assist charities where we can each year.

At Aspire To Move we are big animal lovers and as such we wanted to help some animals in need. This prompted us to adopt some animals from the local Bath City Farm. We added two new recruits to the team, in the form of Dougie & Dougal, two ponies!

We then got our magic wands at the ready, and throughout February with our initiative Fairy-tale Friday. On each Friday of the month, we chose a charity to support and even let our followers vote to select which one they wanted us to support. This was a great activity for all the team and our social media followers to be involved with.

The chosen charities were Billy Chip, The Turkey & Syria Earthquake Appeal, Fareshare Southwest & finally we purchased a mental health mentor for 3 months.

The whole team at Aspire To Move loved being part of this incentive and we all got a lovely warm fuzzy feeling from helping others.

Royal United Hospital Bath, Children's Ward

This Christmas we were honoured to donate £300 worth of Bravery prizes and Christmas presents to the Children’s Ward at the RUH.

All the team at the hospital do such an incredible job and as something close to all our hearts, we were delighted to help bring a smile to some of the children throughout the ward.

It was a pleasure meeting Jenny and hearing about the impact these gifts have on the children, something we will cherish for a long time.

Supporting Bath Boules Charity Event

Aspire were delighted to join in the fun this year for the first time and enter a team in the Bath Boules. The event is ran by Media Clash every year to raise money for Genesis Trust. The team not only braved the torrential ran and thunder but managed to finish top of the table after the first round. Even with soggy shoes and wet hair we were delighted to make it to the semi finals but got knocked out in the first round. Not bad for our first year especially with two of the team having never played before.

A fantastic event which we will definitely support next year.

Sky Diving for the RUH Charity

July saw the Aspire team face the biggest challenge to date and sky dive to raise money for the local RUH hospital. They braved jumping from 13,000 feet whilst travelling at 120 mph.

We could not have ordered better weather for the day, the perfect conditions meant that the team could see as far as the Isle of Wight and Southampton. They described the experience as “thrilling and exhilarating” and loved every minute.

We so far have raised an just over £1700 and the Royal United Hospital were over the moon.

School Recycling Competition

Recycling is at the heart of Aspire so we relished the opportunity to engage ten lovely local schools with a recycling competition. A fun, creative project that also created awareness amongst young people about the environment, the importance of recycling and how we can all make small changes to make the world a slightly better place was an exciting one for us all at Aspire to Move.

We asked pupils to create their dream home out of recycled household objects and received some truly inspired, Grand Designs-worthy entries. The students let their imaginations run wild with only cardboard, tin cans, garden stones and egg cartons to work with. Our favourites, which we would love to see on our lettings listings sometime soon, included a fairy house with a magical pond and a bedroom with a chocolate dispenser bed!

The brief we set our schools was just one way in which you could create something beautiful out of something unwanted. If you have children of your own, why not use your tin cans to make planters; painted cereal boxes or yoghurt pots for a puppet show; toilet roll tubes for binoculars; or milk cartons to make bird feeders?

Thank you to everyone who took part and congratulations to our winners who all received prizes.

Bath Cats & Dogs Home

This year for Christmas, our beloved office dogs, Nelly & Willow, asked for a special gift. They asked for us to help some animals in need, and to raise awareness and give something to the Bath Cats & Dog Home. Who are we to deny them their special Christmas wish?

Therefore, Aspire To Move then went out and purchased over £100 worth of cat and dog food as well as some toys. We also created a donation centre for the local community to get involved and we were amazed by the feedback and input we had whilst this collection centre was open early this year.

Nelly and Willow would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their donations and to wish all their friends at Bath Cats & Dogs Home well, and we all hope they manage to find a loving home very soon!

What an Amazing Year!

We had pleasure off sponsoring the local Scouts firework event for the beginning of November. As a business we purchased over £100 worth of groceries and items that the Bath Foodbank needed for those in need. We also displayed a collection point in our office for any donations for us to deliver the beginning of December. With our donation and the many items dropped into our office we very much enjoyed delivering these items. Bath Foodbank were over the moon and with the pandemic know this will certainly assist in an already stretched need.

Charity Cycle Ride

What a fantastic event! A big thank you to everyone who donated and showed their support. As part of our donation, Aspire To Move pledged to donate a pound for each mile cycled, the team cycled at a great speed for 12 hours and clocked up a cracking 262 miles in total! We raised a grand total of £2,380.85 for the amazing RUH Forever Friends Appeal charity.

Halloween, Bonfire and School Fundraiser

Continuing on from the first half of 2020 we kept it going and from August right the way through to December we helped in our local community. We started with a pumpkin craving competition, we sponsored the Bathesaston fireworks and finished by donating a huge hamper to a local school to help raise money through a Christmas raffle.

Tead more about how we helped in the second half of 2020 here.

Easter Community Fun

We recognize that lockdown was proving hard for those home schooling and keeping the kids busy. One of the directors here at Aspire to move found herself thrown into being a school teacher whilst juggling working from home like many more. We decided to put out a virtual colouring competition for all the children for a bit of fun. This was a huge success with many creative entries. We were delighted to deliver the goodies to our lucky winners.

Larkhall Lockdown – Photography Competition

This event takes place every year – https://www.larkhall-festival.org.uk/ – and is well known in the area especially the famous soap box race. We were over the moon that they decided to run the event virtually and we immediately asked to be involved. We promoted the event and launched a home and garden photography competition. We loved seeing all the photographs coming in and it was hard to choose a winner. However, East of Bath took the prize and used the prize money to buy all local produce to support those local businesses. We are very much looking forward to being involved next year and watch this space as an Aspire soap box might be making an appearance.

Covid-19 – Support in the Community

Aspire To Move believe that in times of trouble if we stay together as one we can accomplish more. The news of the lockdown and Covid-19 was a huge surprise to all of us. We quickly realized that many in our community including our elderly neighbour would require assistance and needed to observe the 12 week lockdown. Due to our location we could also see that the local chemist had a surging demand and struggling to cope.

We took it on ourselves and the other local businesses to create our facebook group @Careincamden. Designed to help those that do not have anyone to get shopping, prescriptions and errands whilst self isolating. This has been a great success and we have loved getting to know some of the locals whilst assisting.
